| Ships at a trading post |
It's always fun to check out the other starships at the trading post or the space station, or even the abandoned crashed ships that need to be repaired. Always trying to find the ship of your dreams, the best-looking S-class around, and the more inventory slots the better.
Below are links to galleries of S-class starships I have found in Normal Mode on PC.
Some basic tips for ship-hunting:
- Wealthy star systems (with a 3-star economy) have the highest chance to spawn S-class ships.
- When you first arrive at a space station, there will soon be a wave of about 4-5 ships for you to check out and potentially buy from the pilots. If you save your game, you can reload to get a new wave of random ships from that star system and you might see some different ones.
- When you're in the atmosphere of a planet, use an Economy Scanner on your ship to locate a Trading Post on the planet with lots of landing pads for ships and use your jet pack to fly up to a high vantage point on top of the building to ship-watch. It's also a good idea to use a save beacon so you can find the trading post again easily, and so you can save and reload to get new ships to spawn. You also get much better lighting at trading posts than at space stations.
- All inhabited star systems have 7 shuttles, 1 exotic ship and 3 haulers, 3 fighters and 3 explorers. Gek star systems have an extra 4 haulers, Vy'keen systems have an extra 4 fighters and Korvax systems have an extra 4 explorers. So if you're looking for a nice fighter ship for example, best chance of finding it is in a wealthy Vy'keen star system.
- Count the ships you've seen: if you're in a Vy'keen system looking for fighters and you've seen 7 different fighter ships but you don't like the looks of them, you've seen them all, so move on to a different star system and hope for better luck there.
- If you see a No Man's Sky starship you like on the internet, for example on Reddit's NMS Coordinate Exchange (a great resource to find awesome planets, starships, freighters, multitools etc.), and you have the portal glyphs (or can convert signal booster coordinates into glyphs), it will be much easier to use a portal to go to the known planet with that same type of ship. Note that with various game updates, some planets have changed and ships that were once there may not be there any more, so try to find ships with coordinates that have been confirmed recently (i.e. since the current major update).

Aikah's Serene Calculator (renamed "White Mosquito") - an exotic S class ship originally with 19/6 inventory slots. Found and purchased at Kambri-Jubas Space Station in Eissentam. It's only a 2-star economy but I have found several S-class ships and some nice haulers and explorers in this system. I have also seen Aikah's Serene Calculator as a 17/5 version.
