Exotics are rare, with only one type per star system, but they are always S-class. They have bonuses to both damage and hyperdrive, but have a small inventory (maximum initial inventory space is 20/6). There are four main styles:
- Royal (also known as a swordfish): has a ball cockpit with a double pointed nose
- Guppy: has a ball cockpit with no nose
- Mosquito: has a ball cockpit with a short needle nose and tall fins
- Squid: has a triangular cockpit and a nose looking like four tentacles
